
On January 21, 2013, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation officially registered the NGO International women’s union of Hamshen Armenians «HAMSHENIAN» Its founding congress was held on November 30, 2012, in Rostov-on-Don.
The organization will unite Hamshen Armenians living in Russia (Rostov, Moscow, and Astrakhan Oblasts, Krasnodar and Stavropol Krais, the Republic of Adygea, and Moscow), Abkhazia, Georgia, Armenia, as well as other countries in Europe, the Greater Middle East, and America, as well as in their historical homeland – Hamshen in Western Armenia (on the Black Sea coast of present-day Turkey).
Journalist-ethnographer Saida Ohanyan was elected Chairperson of the organization’s Board.
