The authorities of fascist Azerbaijan sentenced eight more captured Armenians to long prison terms

The authorities of fascist Azerbaijan on Thursday sentenced eight more Armenian captives to various terms of imprisonment.

According to the verdicts, Melikset Pashayan was sentenced to 19 years in prison, Madat Babayan to 19 years, Garik Martirosyan to 18 years, Davit Alaverdyan to 16 years, Levon Balayan to 16 years, Vasili Beglaryan to 15 years, Gurgen Stepanyan to 15 years, and Erik Ghazaryan to 15 years in prison, report Azerbaijani media, in particular, APA.

Earlier in the day, this criminal, so-called “court” of the fascist regime of Azerbaijan illegally sentenced the former President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) Arayik Harutyunyan, the former Chairman of the National Assembly of Artsakh David Ishkhanyan, the former Foreign Minister of Artsakh David Babayan, the former Commander of the NKR Defense Army General Levon Mnatsakanyan and the First Deputy Commander of the NKR Defense Army General David Manukyan to life imprisonment, and the former President of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) Arkady Ghukasyan and the former President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) Bako Sahakyan to 20 years in prison.

The 20-year prison sentences for Arkadi Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan instead of life imprisonment are due to the fact that they are over 65 years old.

Let us recall that the illegal show trial, so-called “trial,” began on January 17, 2025. Prosecutors of the fascist regime demanded precisely this verdict.

The former top military-political leadership of independent Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) was arrested immediately after the large-scale military aggression, ethnic cleansing and forced deportation of the entire 120,000 indigenous Armenian population of Artsakh committed by the fascist regime of Azerbaijan on September 19, 2023, and their subsequent illegal detention at the end of September 2023.
